Unselfish pet owners would put the health of their four legged friends before their own, with more pets than people having insurance. Research from Tesco has found that more pet-owning Brits have pet insurance in place than health insurance, with 46 per cent insuring their pet compared to 35 per cent who insure their own health. Some devoted pet owners said that they would even cancel their own health insurance policy if they needed the money to pay vet bills, while others would give up gym memberships, nights out, or alcohol and cigarettes. A third of pet owners said they would cancel their annual holiday if their pet become ill, so that they could afford to pay the vets bills, and a quarter are willing to get into debt in order to pay for treatment for their pet. Life insurance payouts reach 98% at Bright Grey

Bright Grey has announced that it paid out 98 per cent of life insurance claims in the first six months of 2010. The figures reveal a two per cent improvement on last year, and show that the average life insurance pay out was £77,000. Homeowners give thieves a sporting chance

Specialist home insurer Hiscox has commissioned research which reveals that homeowners are exposing themselves by leaving valuable sports equipment, unsecured, in gardens and garages.

The goods, with an average value of £770, are left in gardens and car boots by 53% of the professionals surveyed.

More than a quarter (26%) also admitted that their gardens and outbuildings were not properly secured.

Two out of every five either do use their sporting equipment only seasonally (21%) or have not touched it for a year (19%).

Over a third (37%) are unsure whether or not their sporting goods are insured, and 15% acknowledge that they are not.

Hiscox home insurance expert Austyn Tusler explained that it was easy for homeowners to focus upon newer sports equipment, and neglect the less used, older goods at the back of sheds and garages.
