Summer Time Safety for Everyone

Tagged Under : Time, Time Safety

It is that time where the children are out of school and everyone is anxious to start their vacations or daily road trips. You daily road trip may be going to a new baby sitter or Day Care Center. You may be the one heading to the summer program and the YMCA. So, what does this mean? It means that there will be different driving routes taken that normal. You may be starting your day soon than you normally do because of the extra time you need to drop everyone off at their new destination. This also means that you may be driving faster than you would on your regular day because you do not want to get behind schedule for you own job, along with everyone else on the road. You may want to have a little patience when you first start your new routine.

This is the time you want to make sure that your automobile insurance is up to date, have your oil changed and your tires checked. You will be doing more running around trying to get the children to their summer functions and will be on the road more now than you usually are in the winter. It is almost like the schedule of changing the batteries in your smoke alarm on day light savings time twice a year. I do the same with my car maintenance. When it is summertime and winter, it seems the children are going on vacation at these times of the year and you want to check the air conditioning and the heating system.

Is this the summer you will be teaching a young one how to drive? If so, you will definitely want to check automobile insurance rates. You may find yourself holding off until they take driving lessons to get that additional discount. Then again it is a reminder that there are others on the road that is new to driving so be aware and be safe. Teenagers driving tend to forget they have not been driving for years and are still inexperienced when it comes to quick thinking and may cause or be in an accident sooner than they think. The traffic lights they are trying to beat before it turns red. They may be anxious passing the car on the highway to get to the beach quicker. In the raining weather too is when new drivers do not slow down as much as they should so be aware if the weather gets a little rough and play it safe and keep your distance and try to enjoy the summer.

Ask your children what they would like to do for their activities and if they are not sure then you can see if there are any free events and concerts going on that you can enjoy as a family. The only thing to be careful of is if the event is free than you can expect a lot of traffic so plan on the extra time to get there and the extra time to get home. This is another time that drivers are impatient and want to cut in front of people when they leave a parking lot which makes you hit your brakes unexpectedly. Even though it is a law his is the best time to double check everyone and their seat belts. In some states, the law was just passed where the back seat passengers must also wear their seat belts when the car is in motion. Did you know in some states if you have an accident and you are found guilty and were not wearing your seat belt your insurance company may not cover some of the damages?

It would be hard for me to explain to my parents if I had an accident that I was not wearing my seat belt and then have to tell them that the accident was my fault. They would have pulled my keys for a while. Do you remember going to court and sitting in front of the judge and listening to them say that driving is a privilege and not a right? Well. Believe it or not, that speech is still given in our courts today to all young drivers. Thinking back, it obviously stuck with me since it was many, many years ago.

Summertime is a time when young children are running around outside and are forgetful and may chase their ball into the street. Even though you may have auto insurance for the accident you would feel miserable if you were the one responsible for hitting a child. Once again, be careful out there, you never know what the other person is going to do.
