AZgal says “Incompetent Staff” about Esurance

I was with Esurance for about 7 years. My premiums consistently went down and I never had a problem with them until this past year. A car on my policy was in an accident. It should have been totaled, but wasn’t. The car was fixed, but not completely. After complaining that the transmission wasn’t working properly, because of the accident, we were told that this was not a result of the accident. Even though the car would not go into gear after the accident and the transmission was fine before that. Their “dedicated claims rep” was not so dedicated to us. He would take 3-4 days to call or e-mail back when we had a question. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with this experience. After a lot of running around, and finding a significantly cheaper policy, I decided to cancel my policy. When I did that, I was told there would be a $50 cancellation fee. I don’t agree with fees like this, but fine. I was then told that my refund would be about $250 after the fee was taken off my refund. When I got my refund, it was for less than $170. When I called to find out why there was this discrepancy, I was told it was because the person that told me how much my refund was going to be was looking at an old premium. I’m just not sure how someone can look at an old premium when cancelling the policy. They basically told me I was out of luck. Overall, it was a very dissatisfying experience at the end.
